Polish Green Fund

The Polish Green Fund (PZF) is an investment fund supporting the green transition of the economy. It was established to invest in projects that make a real contribution to the decarbonisation of energy production, improving energy efficiency, implementing circular economy, and protecting natural resources and biodiversity. It also aims to engage in activities that improve the living conditions of local communities, from the development of sustainable infrastructure to modern municipal services.

The fund pursues sustainable development goals in accordance with Article 8 of the EU’s SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation).

The fund is managed by ARP TFI, a licensed fund management company wholly owned by Poland’s Industry Development Agency (ARP).

How the Polish Green Fund (PGF) invests

  • PGF invests in projects related to decarbonisation and green transition in Poland, in particular in projects related to:
    • renewable energy production (biogas and biomethane plants, wind farms, solar power plants, energy storage facilities)
    • clean industry and green infrastructure
    • green chemicals
  • PGF invests equity, subscribes for new shares in companies raising capital for investment projects involving construction of new assets, or acquires existing shares in companies pursuing the Fund’s strategic objectives
  • PGF invests typically between PLN 20 and 60 million in a single project, with the possibility of follow-on investments
  • PGF invests on market terms, expecting a return on investment commensurate with the risk taken
  • PGF invests in projects promoting sustainable development in accordance with Article 8 of the EU SFDR Directive
  • PGF acquires minority or majority stakes, typically leaving operational management in the hands of partners with relevant experience in renewable energy projects
  • PGF expects to be able to exit its investments, usually after 3-7 years, together with its partners or by selling the Fund’s shares to a partner
