ARP S.A. – the Industry Development Agency, together with ARP TFI S.A., are taking steps to mobilise the capital of institutional investors, Polish and foreign, for the energy transition and decarbonisation in Poland through the creation of the Polish Green Fund.
At a meeting with journalists, Michał Dąbrowski – President of ARP S.A., Radosław Niedzielski – Vice-President of the Management Board of ARP S.A. and Michał Gładyś – President of ARP TFI S.A. presented the purpose of creating the Polish Green Fund (PGF) and the directions of its activities.
The Fund is an important step in the implementation of ARP S.A.’s “Clean Industry” strategy for 2023-2025, with an outlook to 2030.
ARP S.A. acts as an integrator of the energy transformation of Polish enterprises. Through its companies, it actively invests in projects aimed at increasing the share of green energy in the Polish energy mix, thus becoming an important player in the supply chain for Polish industry. I am sure that our experience gained over more than 30 years of cooperation with Polish entrepreneurs and the trust they have in ARP S.A. will allow the fund to invest in spectacular projects and investors to receive a market return on their invested funds,’ said Michał Dąbrowski, President of ARP S.A.
The Polish Green Fund is a closed-end investment fund of non-public assets managed by ARP TFI S.A., a company of the ARP S.A. Group. The Agency is the first investor of the fund, which has invested capital representing at least 20 per cent of the planned capital of PGF.
ARP S.A.’s support opens the doors for the fund to Polish institutions, companies and local governments, which will significantly facilitate PGF’s access to attractive investment projects. The fund can also benefit from the support of other Polish development institutions, namely PFR, BGK, KUKE, PAIH, PARP, NCBR and NFOŚiGW.
– The implementation by ARP S.A. together with ARP TFI S.A. of the project of creating the Polish Green Fund will allow to take a milestone step towards the development of green transition and energy decarbonisation in the Polish market. Detailed market analyses and cooperation with ARP TFI S.A. have enabled the preparation of a bespoke investment fund operating in the infrastructure market based on a ‘tailor-made’ investment policy and strategy. Planned investments will include, among others, the area of RES, green transition of industry, infrastructure and municipal services. The Polish Green Fund will also respond to the expectations of the investment market regarding the inclusion of ESG factors in investment projects,’ said Radosław Niedzielski – Vice President of the Management Board of ARP S.A.
ARP TFI S.A. is currently focusing on attracting further investors among Polish and foreign institutional investors and among international financial institutions.
– As ARP TFI S.A. we plan to invest in about a dozen rigorously selected projects with the potential to generate high returns on capital at market level of risk. We have already identified potential projects worth nearly PLN 6 billion,’ said Michał Gładyś, President of the Management Board of ARP TFI S.A.
Investors in the Polish Green Fund can take advantage of the possibility of co-investment in projects implemented by the PGF, which is an interesting proposition especially for foreign investors, providing a safe entry into the Polish market of investment projects in the field of energy transition.
The activities of the Polish Green Fund – in addition to their investment dimension – also have a market-making dimension. Financial instruments created by ARP TFI S.A. such as the Polish Green Fund will contribute to the development of the long-term infrastructure investment market and to preparing this asset class for future pension fund investments in Poland.
The Polish Green Fund promotes environmental and social aspects and takes ESG aspects into account in the investment process in accordance with Article 8 of the SFDR Regulation.
